actually we get exchange rates directly from the ECB or the different national banks. Therefore we need firewall rules per system for every url with exchange rates.

with a central access point for exchange rates we would save effort for setting up point to point connections (firwewall rules, exchange certificates, ecc)

I categorize the idea as "new service", but it would fit also for "data sources"
