A global standardised system for traceability from product manufacture to patient treatment is imperative to comply with the increasing legal and regulatory requirements for product traceability around the world.

The Global Location Number (GLN) improves the efficiency of communication among organisations. The GLN enables the unique and unambiguous identification of any type of location used in business processes, which is a prerequisite for efficient communication between trading partners.

It would be great to have GS1 as an external data source to bring in GLN as a new Identifier for Healthcare-specific and also other Business Partners.
